The Cleantech I Fund LP invests in early and growth stage businesses in the clean technology sector, with a particular focus on water technology and resource efficiency. The fund has been active in the clean technology field since 2002 and typically makes initial investments of up to €5m. Our interest lies in a diverse range of products, services and processes that increase resource efficiency in industry and infrastructure, facilitate the profitable “closed loop” re-cycling or re-use of non-renewable materials and resources, produce new sources of renewable raw materials, or cut or eliminate harmful by-products or wastes. Below are some examples of the technologies that the Cleantech I Fund has an interest in:
- Water purification and re-use for industrial and municipal markets.
- Materials recovery and recycling.
- Advanced industrial processes.
- Energy generation, transmission and distribution.
- Energy efficiency.
- Green or natural chemistry.
- Renewable bio-based materials.
- Waste processing.
- Near zero-waste production approaches.
The fund’s capital is typically used to support customer acquisition, geographic expansion, product development, or working capital, but we also target exceptional opportunities to finance strategic mergers or acquisitions, corporate carve-outs, or restructurings. The fund will invest in companies incorporated or managed from Europe, and will co-invest with trusted partners in the US and the rest of the world.
